Installing PDMPublisher for SOLIDWORKS

PDMPublisher for SOLIDWORKS automates the export of STEP, PDF, DXF, and other formats directly from SOLIDWORKS or PDM.
Follow these steps to install or update the add-in on your computer.

1. Go to the Download Page

Open the installer page:
https://pdmpublisher.com/solidworks-desktop

From there, download the latest version of the PDMPublisher.msi installer.

2. Download the Installer

After clicking the download link, your browser will save a file named:

pdmpublisher.msi

Locate this file in your Downloads folder.

3. Unblock the File

Because Windows may block files downloaded from the Internet, you must unblock the installer before running it.

  1. Right-click the file and select Properties.
  2. In the General tab, check the box labeled Unblock.
  3. Click Apply, then OK.

This ensures that Windows recognizes the installer as safe to run.

4. Verify the Digital Signature

All official PDMPublisher installers are digitally signed to verify authenticity.

In the Digital Signatures tab, the signature should read:

Issued to: BLUE BYTE SYSTEMS INC
Issued by: Microsoft ID Verified CS EOC CA 02

This confirms the installer came directly from Blue Byte Systems Inc. and has not been altered.

5. Close SOLIDWORKS Before Installing

Before launching the installer, make sure SOLIDWORKS is fully closed.
If PDMPublisher is currently loaded inside SOLIDWORKS, the installation will not complete successfully.

6. Run the Installer

Double-click pdmpublisher.msi to launch the setup wizard.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation or update process.

7. Updating an Existing Installation

If you already have PDMPublisher installed, the add-in automatically checks for updates.
When a new version is available, you will see a blue notification banner in the PDMPublisher tab that says:

“A new version is out. Click here to download it.”

Clicking the link will download the latest installer in your browser.
Repeat the steps above to unblock the file, close SOLIDWORKS, and install the update.

8. Launching PDMPublisher

After installation, open SOLIDWORKS.
The PDMPublisher tab will appear in the taskpane.
You can now start automating your exports directly from SOLIDWORKS or your PDM vault.
