PDMPublisher allows you to automatically merge multiple exported PDFs into a single master PDF file. This is useful for generating a consolidated drawing package for assemblies, including all referenced part and drawing documents in a single file.
Required Settings
To use the merge functionality, the following options must be enabled in the Output panel:
- File Formats: Select PDF in the File Formats list.
- Export references to file formats individually: This option must be checked. It ensures that all referenced files are exported individually before merging.
- Merge exported PDFs into one master PDF: This option enables the merging process itself.
Without these three settings, PDMPublisher will not generate a merged PDF.
Assembly-Based Export
The Merge PDF feature only works when publishing from an assembly document. PDMPublisher will process the assembly and its referenced files, export their PDFs individually, and then combine them into a single master PDF file.
Impact of Conditions
If Conditions are enabled, they will determine which files are included in the merge. Only the files that satisfy the defined conditions and are successfully exported to PDF will be merged into the final document. This allows you to fine-tune which drawings or parts are included in the master package.
Output File Name
The merged PDF file is named after the assembly, with “-master” appended to the file name. For example:
Cabinet-master.pdf
